1. What sparked your interest in homeopathy?

Through my experience of being a patient. I was impressed and fascinated by the practice. It’s an unbelievably comprehensive system of natural health care.

2. What makes an excellent homeopath?

Someone who treats you as a person and not just a set of symptoms. Homeopaths look at a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well being, as well as the illness for which they seek help.

3. What are the main differences between a homeopath and a GP?

Homeopaths treat many of the conditions that a patient may visit a GP for, however we seek to find and treat the cause of the illness rather than only managing the symptoms. Also, our medicines do not have side effects that regular drugs may have. Essentially, you’re getting results from something that is effective and non-toxic.

4. There has been some debate over whether or not  homeopathy should be covered by the NHS. What are your thoughts on this?

If patients were able to access homeopathy more easily through the NHS, it would benefit those who cannot afford to pay for treatment privately. I believe it would save the NHS a lot of money in the long term, as our medicines are comparatively inexpensive.

5. My hay fever is driving me insane. What remedies would you recommend?

[At this point, Nicola insisted on offering me a brief consultation, in which she questioned me on my symptoms, my history with allergies, and other relevant details. She also prepared the remedies to help me with my hay fever!]

Well, I think a combination for 4 remedies will help you with your symptoms: Euphrasia, Wyethia, Sabadilla, and Kali Bich. Three of those are made from plants; the other is a mineral. I may also prescribe a homeopathic remedy made from pollens to desensitize you. When your symptoms have improved, I would prescribe some remedies to strengthen your immune system so that you are less prone to attacks of hay fever in the future.
